CENE ŠTUPAR – IN ENGLISH
Cene Štupar – Centre for Continuing Education started in the 1950s when the so called "workers' universities" were established. Today it is one of the biggest institutions for continuing education in Slovenia. It is situated in the centre of Ljubljana, Vojkova 1 and it has its facilities at Gosposvetska 1 and Kališnikov trg 12.
Foreign Language Teaching
Cene Štupar – Centre for Continuing Education and its staff started to introduce new methods in foreign language teaching back in 1999, following the Council of Europe guidelines. We are proud of the fact that we have been verified by the National Examination Centre for testing English, French, Italian and German at Levels A2 and B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference. We also cooperate with the British Council, Goethe Institut and other foreign language institutes (Italian, French and Spanish).

As an examination centre verified by the University of Ljubljana – Centre for Slovene as a second/foreign language, we successfully organise courses and examinations of Slovene as a foreign language on a basic level.

We want to bring foreign language learning to everybody who wants to communicate in a foreign language.

All levels (of courses and examinations) are comparable with the levels described in the Common European Framework of Reference, which has become an official description of levels within the EU.

A novelty in the field of foreign language teaching in 2006 is the development of a network of mentors for English Language Learning through the internet with the programme English Discoveries Online, which allows students to be independent in regards the time and space.
Basic skills
Cene Štupar – Centre for Continuing Education organizes basic skills educational programmes - Primary school for adults, which is financed by the Ministry of Education and Sport.
Secondary schools
Cene Štupar has achieved outstanding results in recent years in the field of secondary education for adults.

We prepare individual study programmes, advise and counsel those who want to learn and we follow them on their way to their goal. We put great emphasis on the relationship between a teacher and a student as well as on the learning process itself in order to enhance the quality of both. We have a rich tradition of experience and we try to be the best by following the latest trends in the development of education. We verify the satisfaction of our students through questionnaires, we organize classroom teacher assessments, talk to our students and try to find out about the positives and negatives of education. We are aided by numerous teachers and mentors who are a very important part of our endeavours as we have realised that the teaching methods and relationship with the students are the most important factors in education.

Cene Štupar organises the following verified secondary school programmes for:
  • Secondary vocational schools (cooks, waiters, administrators, shop assistants, bakers' and conditioners' assistants, nurses, workers in food-processing industry, a model of common educational programmes in mechanical engineering),
  • Secondary technical schools (economics, tourism, catering, traffic, fashion design and pre-school care),
  • Secondary vocational-technical schools (economics, catering and tourism and mechanical engineering).

By increasing the number of licences for national vocational qualifications we are constantly trying to enrich our programmes.

We successfully cooperate with the Ministry of Education and Sport, the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs and the National Employment Agency and Ministry of Justice - Prison Dob. We also carry out many programmes within the frame of European Social Funds and take part in public notices.

Our participants have classes two or three times a week. There is also a possibility of choosing the form of self-study learning with the support of a mentor.

All participants receive specially prepared learning materials. They have classes with lecturers having the opportunity to participate in the learning process itself by discussions and exchanging of experiences in groups. At the end they take exams. The exams take place during the last class of a module or they are organized twice a month for each subject.

Special preparation courses are organized before Matura exams. The majority of our students are successful when taking the exams.

Our teachers and programme organizers like working with the participants. Enrolment is the proof of our successful cooperation.
Life-long learning
In Cene Štupar, we are aware of the importance of life-long learning. We organize programmes for improving adult literacy. The programmes were developed by the Slovenian Institute for Adult Education and are financed by European Social Funds and the Ministry of Education and Sport so the participants have no fee to pay.

We read and write together is a verified programme for family literacy. In workshops for parents and children in the first three years of primary school the participants learn Slovene, mathematics etc. in a different way. This enhances the literacy and reading culture of all of the family members.

A bridge to education is a verified programme for functional literacy. In workshops for young adults they get to know study techniques for successful learning and they improve basic writing and mathematic skills. The goal of this course is to enable an individual to enter further formal vocational education and to improve their basic skills.
Seminars
For employees in companies and institutions we organize seminars and workshops about workplace and work conditions, recovery of debts, public procurement procedures, travel expenses, cash management, audits, sales techniques, rhetoric, management of meetings, stress prevention, communication etc.

We also offer programmes for accounting and book-keeping, for commercialists, for managing of accounting firms and courses for fork lift drivers, warehouse managing, elevator control and computer courses. We also organise the good hygiene practice course – HACCP.

We are licensed to organize health and safety in the workplace courses.
Free time programmes
In addition there are many free-time programmes: every year we organise beginner and advanced guitar courses and different workshops (art, astrology, feng shui etc.)
