Today you have come to enroll in the Slovenian language course. The course is part of the “Initial Integration of Immigrants” project, which is funded by the European Union
and the Republic of Slovenia. At Cene Štupar, we have multiple locations. One is here, where we are now. The classrooms are on the ground floor, both on the left and right sides of the building. Our offices are on the first floor. We also have another location in Ljubljana, specifically in Ježica at Kališnikov trg 12. We also collaborate with partners who have their spaces in Šiška, at Stegne. At the start of the course, you will receive a free textbook, so you do not need to purchase any books. Today, I can’t tell you exactly when you will start the course. When we have a group for you, we will send you all the group details via email. This includes the group name, schedule, the teacher’s name, the classroom, and the location. Please respond to our email to confirm whether you will attend the course or not. We need to find a group for you no later than two months from today. You received a certificate for 180 hours of the course. This means that you will have the course two or three times a week, for three or four school hours per session. The entire course lasts five to six months. If you plan a longer absence in the next seven months, such as traveling for a month or more, we advise you not to enroll today, but to do so when you can attend the entire course, as this is your only free option, and we suggest you take full advantage of it. At the end of the course, if you have at least 80% attendance, you will receive a blue state certificate confirming that you attended the course. If you do not have 80% attendance, you will receive our certificate from Cene Štupar confirming that you attended the course. This certificate is not proof of your language knowledge, but only proof that you attended the course. At the end of the course, your teacher will have you take a test, which is a regular school test. This will show you and us how much you have progressed in the course. It will also give you an idea of your current language level. This test is not proof of your language skills that you could use for citizenship or other documentation. Proof of your language skills is the state exam in Slovenian. Most of you already have a new certificate for the course. On one paper, you have two things included: the free course and the free exam. Since you have two items on one document, and I will take this document today, at the beginning of the course, you will receive an official copy of this certificate from the administrative unit. With this copy, you can apply for the exam when you decide to do so. You can apply for the exam at the level you choose, at the school you prefer, and on your desired exam date. The only condition is that you must use this copy within one year from the end of the course. So, one year from the last day of the course, you must use this copy if you want to take the exam for free. If you do not do this within a year, the only consequence is that you will have to pay for the exam.
Today, you will complete some paperwork. The first document is the application form.
Here, you should mark when you would like to attend the course. Then, fill out your personal information, such as your name, surname, address, and so on. On the other side, there is a data protection policy. The first two points are mandatory, so please tick, circle, or mark your agreement. With the first point, you agree that you are familiar with the data protection policy. With the second point, you agree that in case of unexpected circumstances, such as a COVID epidemic, the course will be online. The third point is no longer mandatory, but if you tick it, we will send you our school newsletter once a month to your email address. The fourth point is also not mandatory, but if you tick it, you agree that we can publish photos from the course online if the teacher takes any pictures. At the end, you will write the date and your signature. The second document is the personal education plan. At the top, you will write your name and surname. Then, we would like to know more details about your education. For each educational level you have completed, write the country where you studied and how long that level lasted. Then, we want to know your education title. For example, hairdresser, architect, doctor, etc. Below, answer questions such as whether you have already studied Slovenian? Where? How many hours? If you haven’t, write “no.” At the end, there are some other questions, such as whether you have a computer, what your native language is, whether you speak any foreign languages, etc. The last page is for me to fill out, you leave it empty.
