Živa Lopatič has long been involved in communications, management, and planning. Along the way, she discovered fair trade and became involved in it. She quickly realized that awareness of the existence and workings of fair trade is still quite low in Slovenia, so she set a goal to raise awareness of fair trade and to encourage people to increasingly choose products made in accordance with fair trade principles, whether they are made in Slovenia or elsewhere. Today, she runs the only fair trade shop, 3MUHE, in Slovenia. She is in regular contact with suppliers and buyers of fair trade products.

“In my work, I regularly encounter the negative consequences that business practices—which are not even remotely socially responsible but, on the contrary, are aimed solely at generating profits—have on people and the environment. Fair trade, however, has been proving for nearly 50 years that business can be organized in a way that satisfies everyone in the supply chain. That is why I welcome every new business idea with a positive social impact and support all initiatives aimed at fostering as many such ideas as possible and creating a more supportive environment for their implementation. One such initiative is certainly the Ferfl program, which I myself am supporting more actively this year through Pons.”
