The Ferfl Competition for Entrepreneurial Ideas with a Social Impact concluded on April 21, 2016. Teams submitted 26 interesting entrepreneurial ideas with a social impact to the competition. A 9-member expert panel (Gregor Sakovič (NLB), Lan Hvastija (Optiprint, d.o.o.), Tadej Černivec (IPRC, d.o.o.), Jana Ponikvar, M.A. (Šentprima), Melita Oven, M.A. (City of Ljubljana), Neda Mohorič Kešelj (Employment Service of Slovenia), Brigita Jamnik (JP Vodovod-kanalizacija), Rachelle Narat (JP Energetika), and Mateja Dobovšek (Dškatla) selected the four best ideas with a social impact:

  • Ar Bracelet offers a simple, safe, and quick way to test for the presence of (date-rape) drugs in various beverages using a wristband. With this idea, they aim to start a trend among young people and spread the message about the dangers of drugs and the fight against them.
  • The Box is a multifunctional, educational toy that grows with the child. The toy is shaped like a wooden box with interchangeable sides, each of which tells its own story or serves a specific (educational) purpose.
  • BisterUm provides rehabilitation services for people with cognitive difficulties with the aim of helping them live more independently (improved quality of life, lower care costs, and a reduced burden on family members).
  • Outdoor games are designed for relaxation and for having fun while exploring Ljubljana, as well as for getting to know one another. In addition, participants receive a unique wooden frame featuring a motif of Ljubljana.

All four teams, along with the winners of Startup Weekend, will participate in the Ferfl School of Socially Responsible Entrepreneurship, which begins on May 3, 2016.
