We are announcing the schedule for an additional 120-hour Slovenian language course!
This course is intended for speakers of NON-SLAVIC languages who have already completed the 180-hour course.
Schedule: Monday , Wednesday: 4:30 p.m.–7:45 p.m.
Scheduled start date: September 15 2025
Goal: Level A2

Price: 720 €
The course fee does not include the “Slovenian” textbook (28 €), which participants must purchase on their own.
COURSE CONTENT – In this course, you will:
1. discuss the following topics: self-introduction, description of the country, Slovenian landmarks, Slovenians and their character, description of the family, household chores, housing and living arrangements, work and careers, leisure time, education, health, healthy lifestyle, public institutions and services, food and drink, clothing and footwear, the environment and surroundings (weather, transportation, pets), Slovenian holidays and customs, the political system in Slovenia;
2. read and understand simpler journalistic texts, discuss them, and express their own opinions;
3. practiced how to find key information in advertisements, notices, and instructions;
4. practiced how to report, both orally and in writing, on past, present, and future events in their lives (description of their family, description of their home, description of their schooling, descriptions of one’s occupation and workday, discussions about a healthy lifestyle and personal hygiene, descriptions of eating habits, discussions about pets and gardening, descriptions of routes, and descriptions of a country and a town);
5. Expand your vocabulary and practice dialogues so that you’ll know what to do when you need various services or information: at the bank, at the post office, at the police station, at the auto repair shop, at the library, at the store, at the doctor’s office, at a restaurant, during a phone call, in conversations with coworkers, and during a job interview;
6. compose various written texts: job applications, resumes, invitations, apologies, replies to emails, letters to a doctor, complaints, and claims;
7. We also covered grammar: the declension of adjectives, nouns, and personal pronouns in all cases and numbers; the use of verbs in all tenses and numbers; the use of modal verbs, the conditional, and the imperative; the comparison of adjectives; adverbs of place and time; the correct use of prepositions and conjunctions; word order.

Course Content – As part of the course, participants will:
1. ll explore the following topics: personal introduction, country description, Slovenian landmarks, Slovenians and their national character, family description, household tasks, housing and living conditions, employment and professions, leisure activities, education, health and a healthy lifestyle, public institutions and services, food and beverages, clothing and footwear, environment and living space (weather, traffic, and pets), Slovenian holidays and customs, and the political system in Slovenia.
2. Read and understand simpler journalistic texts, participate in discussions about them, and express personal opinions.
3. Practice identifying key information in advertisements, announcements, and instructions.
4. Practice oral and written reporting on past, present, and future events from one’s own life (such as describing one’s family, housing, education, profession, and daily work routine; discussing a healthy lifestyle and personal hygiene; describing eating habits; talking about pets and gardening; describing routes; and describing a country and the place where one lives).
5. expand their vocabulary and practice dialogues to confidently handle various service situations, such as at the bank, post office, police station, auto repair shop, library, store, doctor’s office, and restaurant.
6. Write various types of texts, including job applications, resumes, invitations, apologies, email replies, emails to a doctor, complaints, and claims.
