Initial Integration of Immigrants (2024–2026) | Cene Štupar – CILJ

Slovenian Language Learning Program Based on the Official Curriculum Initial integration of immigrants, which also includes content on learning about Slovenian society, is conducted over 180 hours.

Purpose: To teach the Slovenian language and familiarize students with Slovenian history, culture, and the constitutional system of the Republic of Slovenia. The process of learning the Slovenian language incorporates content drawn from daily life and work that strengthens the integration of immigrants into Slovenian society.

Objective: To provide non-citizens of the European Union with the knowledge of the Slovenian language necessary to successfully pass the basic-level Slovenian language proficiency test (A2/B1 according to the CEFR), or a level of proficiency in the Slovenian language sufficient for basic communication. The Slovenian language learning process incorporates content from daily life and work that strengthens the integration of immigrants into Slovenian society.

Free participation: Holders of a certificate for free participation in the program, issued by the competent administrative unit to non-EU citizens based on a submitted application for free Slovenian language instruction totaling 180 hours.

You can register for the free Slovenian language course if you have a certificate from the local administrative office (an application is not required). You can register using the online registration form HERE.

After you submit your online application, we will invite you within one month to register and take a test to assess your prior knowledge of Slovenian. Registration will take place in Ljubljana—even for courses in Grosuplje, Kamnik, Domžale, and Vrhnika. Please come to enrollment in person and bring a certificate from your local administrative office. During enrollment, we’ll provide you with more information about the ZIP course.

After you enroll and take the placement test, you can expect the course to begin within two months.

A publicly valid certificate confirming successful completion of the ZIP training program is issued to anyone who:

• actively participates in the planning and implementation of the individual education plan,
• is 80%.

The ZIP NI officially recognized training certificate is not equivalent to the officially recognized certificate of proficiency in the Slovenian language at various levels (A1–C1 according to the CEFR), issued by the IC Center for Slovenian as a Second and Foreign Language at the Faculty of Arts.

The assessment and evaluation of knowledge, as well as the monitoring of participants’ progress, take place throughout the program—self-evaluation (written assignments, oral presentations, summaries, midterm tests, implementation of learning outcomes, …)—and upon completion of the program—an internal knowledge assessment.

Implementation of project activities:

March 2024: 10 new groups began at the Cene Štupar Public Institution, with 99 participants. 1 new group began at the Velenje Sports Center.

April 2024: Five new groups began at the Cene Štupar Public Institution, with 151 participants. One new group began at the Velenje Sports Center.

May 2024: Launch of 8 new groups at JZ Cene Štupar and 1 new group at CIK Trebnje.

June 2024: Seven new groups began at the Cene Štupar Public Institution, with 68 participants.

August 2024: Start of 1 new group at the Cene Štupar Social Services Center, with 9 participants.

September 2024: Launch of 6 new groups at JZ Cene Štupar, 1 new group at ŠC Velenje, and 1 new group at Veris.

October 2024: Launch of 10 new groups at JZ Cene Štupar and 1 new group at CIK Trebnje.

November 2024: Launch of 7 new groups at JZ Cene Štupar, 1 new group at ŠC Velenje, and 1 new group at Veris.

December 2024: Launch of 6 new groups at the Cene Štupar Public Institution.

January 2025: Six new groups will begin at the Cene Štupar Youth Center, and one new group will begin at the Trebnje Cultural and Educational Center.

February 2025: Launch of 4 new groups at JZ Cene Štupar, 2 new groups at ŠC Velenje, and 2 new groups at Veris.

March 2025: Launch of 8 new groups at JZ Cene Štupar, 1 new group at ŠC Velenje, and 4 new groups at Veris.

April 2025: Launch of 10 new groups at the Cene Štupar Youth Center and 1 new group at the Trebnje Cultural and Educational Center.

May 2025: Launch of 11 new groups at JZ Cene Štupar, 1 new group at CIK Trebnje, 1 new group at ŠC Velenje, and 2 new groups at Veris.

June 2025: Launch of 3 new groups at the Cene Štupar Public Institution. Project completion.
