Description:

PILLARS is an alliance of educational institutions and businesses whose goal is to help shape relevant skills and facilitate the flow of knowledge about sustainable impact. What makes PILLARS innovative is that it recognizes “impact management” as an emerging profession that lacks structure and relevant skills, and requires supportive educational programs and specialized digital tools.

Questions we are seeking answers to in this project:

• How can we actually measure the impact of what we’ve done by looking back at past activities?
• How can we build on collective intelligence to maximize the impact of our current activities?
• How can we capture signals and megatrends to jointly predict future effects/impact?
• How can we, through stakeholder co-creation, influence and shape the policy that will determine the overall effectiveness of the impact?
• What skills are needed to understand, plan, and achieve impact within the context of projects, processes, and the emerging profession of impact managers?

Planned long-term outcomes of the project:

The goal of the PILLARS project is to lay the groundwork with a focus on three areas:

• A digital tool has been developed to capture and measure the impact of completed projects, which will be used for reporting and reflection;
• A digital tool has been developed for the structured assessment of the impact of development projects using foresight models;
• An online course has been created for impact managers—as an emerging profession.
