What is the NPK massage therapist certification?

The National Vocational Qualification (NPK) for massage therapists is a publicly recognized certificate that demonstrates your competence to perform massage-related work.

A massage therapist is a sought-after professional in the field of relaxation, well-being, and physical balance. Using professionally performed massage techniques, they help reduce stress, relieve muscle tension, and improve clients’ overall well-being.

A career as a massage therapist offers excellent employment opportunities in wellness and spa centers, hotels, and sports facilities, or as a self-employed professional, while also providing flexible working hours and a long-term, stable career in the rapidly growing wellness industry.

Special Requirements for Obtaining a National Vocational Qualification

To obtain the National Vocational Qualification for massage therapist, candidates must meet the specific requirements set forth in the Catalog of Standards for Professional Knowledge and Skills.

Special Conditions for Joining the NPK

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in the following areas:

• anatomy and physiology,
• health protection,
• skin and skin diseases.

This knowledge must be acquired in:

• in accredited high school vocational programs (at least SOK 5) or
• degree programs (at least SOK 6) in the fields of healthcare, dentistry, cosmetology, or pharmacy.

The candidate demonstrates his or her knowledge through official certificates issued by accredited educational institutions.

You can take the exams required to begin the process of verifying and certifying the NPK for massage therapists through our high school program in Cosmetic Technology.

Exam Sections

Fees and Retaking Exams

The price of each set of exams is 80.00 EUR.

The price includes:

• instructional materials,
• consultation,
• taking the exam once,
• Issuance of Notification of Successful Completion of an Exam in Non-Degree Education.

Total cost of all exams: 560.00 EUR.

Retaking the Exam

In the event that:

• failing the exam during the second attempt, or
• registrations for an exam that you do not take,

A fee of 80.00 EUR must be paid for the third and each subsequent attempt at the same exam.

Registration and Exam Schedule

Exams are held throughout the school year, from October through June.

After you submit the application form, we will send you:

• an electronic signature training agreement,
• An invoice for payment in the amount of 560.00 EUR.

You will receive a username and password to access the online classroom, where study materials for all 7 exams are available.

You will also receive an email prompting you to create a password for the online system, where you can register for and withdraw from exams.

What is the process for obtaining an NPK?

Once you have met all the requirements for obtaining an NPK, you can apply for the NPK certification process.

Obtaining a National Vocational Qualification (NPK) certificate follows a clearly defined procedure that allows candidates to demonstrate the knowledge and experience they have gained through work, training, or informal learning.

The entire process is divided into three main steps:

Cost of the NPK certification process

The fee for the NPK verification and certification process is 267.00 EUR and includes:

• providing information, guidance, and support to the candidate throughout the entire process,
• individual counseling and assistance in preparing a personal portfolio,
• a professional review of the application portfolio and a determination of whether the requirements have been met,
• direct assessment of practical knowledge and competencies.

Dates and Registration for the NPK Certification Process

• The next review and approval will take place in 2026.
• You can register for the NPK for informational purposes via the online informational registration form.
