Black Friday sales in November and the ever-more-expensive holiday gift-giving in December cause stress and financial worries for many people. That’s why we’ve decided to organize a free educational and promotional event to help us enter 2025 in good financial shape.
This event is intended to present the Finančni plac project. It will take place on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Cene Štupar – CILJ premises (5 Ambrožiča Novljana Street, 1000 Ljubljana).

5:00 p.m. Opening Remarks and Presentation of the “Finančni plac” Project – Bojan Hajdinjak
5:15 p.m. Workshop: “Money—The Ruler of the December Holidays” – Alina Meško
In this workshop, we’ll reflect on the meaning of the December holidays and gift-giving, and ask ourselves whether money should really be the (only) thing that determines their value. What are the alternatives? Can we find other ways to make the holidays meaningful? We’ll receive practical December tips for meaningful gift-giving, safe online shopping, and planning for holiday expenses.
5:45 p.m. A Conversation with Cene Prevc
A former ski jumper will reveal how he made the leap from his athletic career to the business world, where he learned to manage his finances, and how he views the month of December.
6:15 p.m. Roundtable discussion with experts in financial literacy
Adi Omerović, Matjaž Štamulak, Mira K. Veljić, and Rok Trdan will share their experiences and offer guidance on how you can take control of your own financial future. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions. The roundtable discussion will be moderated by Sanda Jerman.

More about the event’s guests
Alina Meško has been working on consumer rights in the field of banking services at the Slovenian Consumers’ Association for more than ten years. She works to explain complex banking products in plain language, making it easier for users to make informed decisions and choose the products that are right for them. She conducts workshops on financial literacy and publishes articles in the magazine ZPStest and on the Slovenian Consumers’ Association’s websites.
Cene Prevc is known to many for his athletic career. What is less well known, however, is that after retiring from ski jumping, he ventured into the business world and began working in the hospitality industry. He took over the management of a café and pastry shop in the Gorenjska region. Lately, he’s also been appearing on stand-up stages, where he entertains us with his humor. He’ll share some of his thoughts with us on how he managed this transition and how he views the month of December.
Adi Omerović is a longtime and renowned television journalist and investigator who has twice received the Journalist of the Year award from POP TV. Through his work on the show, he addresses key issues and challenges facing our society. In recent years, however, he has focused on a new mission—promoting financial literacy in a simple and understandable way. Every week, in the “Financial World” segment on Channel A, he covers current financial events and trends. In his “Financial POPcast,” which is part of the POP TV platform, he hosts prominent financial experts every week.
Mira K. Veljić is currently the director of the Association of Investment Fund Management Companies (ZDU GIZ). For nearly 10 years, she has been a mentor and lecturer at the CEED entrepreneurship network, focusing primarily on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups in the areas of finance, management, and corporate restructuring. Within ZDU GIZ, she is a member of working groups, a lecturer, and a moderator at various events focused on education and financial literacy.
Matjaž Štamulak is an entrepreneur with 20 years of experience in financial consulting, lecturing, and building relationships with the media as well as individuals and legal entities. He has lectured at universities, schools, agencies, companies, various conferences, financial events, and several chambers of commerce throughout Slovenia. He is currently a freelance expert contributor to the magazine Obrtnik Podjetnik and also collaborates extensively with other media outlets, such as Delo, Dnevnik, Večer, Finance.si, Kapital, RTV Slovenia, and others.
