Workshop Invitation: “What knowledge and skills will professions in the woodworking industry need in the future?”
We invite you to a short workshop as part of the LifeLongWood project: “What knowledge and skills will professions in the wood industry need in the future?” This Slovenian-Austrian project promotes wood as a natural, regional, and sustainable resource for the future and strengthens the competitiveness of the wood industry in the region. The project’s goal is to inspire young people and adults to pursue careers in wood and related fields and to offer them various opportunities for education, training, and networking.
Since we recognize you as a leading expert in both the field of woodworking and the industry, we cordially invite you to join us for a workshop to be held on Monday, March 25, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. During the workshop, we will briefly present the project to you and then invite you to share your ideas on how we could:
- further strengthen the promotion of careers in the woodworking industry,
- encourage young people to choose a career in woodworking and the wood industry,
- reviewed forecasts regarding the skills and competencies that employees in the woodworking industry will need in the near and distant future.
Who is this workshop intended for?
- To businesses and tradespeople who are involved in any way in the woodworking industry
- To decision-makers and policymakers in the fields of forestry and employment
Why shouldn’t you miss this workshop?
- We will present free training sessions designed for your companies, where you will gain the knowledge needed to enhance your reputation as employers and attract the right talent.
- We will present a number of opportunities in which you can actively participate (e.g., job shadowing, hackathons, and video presentations of careers) and where you’ll be able to connect directly with young people interested in careers in the woodworking industry.
- Throughout the project, we will be presenting careers in the woodworking industry at elementary schools; we would be happy to involve you in this effort and actively promote these activities on social media. This gives you the opportunity to promote your businesses as well. Participation in all activities is free of charge.

10:30–10:45: Welcome reception with coffee
10:45–11:00: Brief presentation of the project and opportunities for collaboration
11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.: Gathering ideas and information using the “1-2-4-ALL” method
12:00–12:30: Networking and refreshments

The workshop will take place on Monday, March 25, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Location and Parking
We’ll meet at the Cene Štupar – CILJ center in BTC , at 5 Ambrožiča Novljana Street, 1000 Ljubljana, on the ground floor, in classrooms 5 and 6.
We are located across from IKEA. You can park in the free parking lots available next to IKEA and Hall A, right behind the Crystal Palace.
